A Tale of Two Fathers

When I think of my husband and how wonderful he is with our children, it melts my heart. He is a dedicated and loving father! But as I am wrote  this the day before Easter, I couldn't help but think about the amazing love our Father in Heaven has for each of us as well. In fact, I remember how taken aback my children were the first time I told them that God the Father loves them more than we do, and they were completely incensed when I followed that epiphany with “…and God loves mommy and daddy much more than you do.” They could hardly comprehend that statement, but it’s the absolute truth. The Bible says Christians should “pray without ceasing,” so personally, I strive to pray not just daily, but in all things. Admittedly, some days I’m more successful than others. I generally tell myself that if I have time for leisure activities such as watching TV, reading a book, or tackling an art project for fun, then I certainly do have time to pray. What Is the True Source of Happiness?

Many days I have found myself warning my children to guard against the pop culture message advising them to make themselves happy by fulfilling selfish desires and impulses. Society sends the message that happiness is paramount, is worth pursuing at any cost, and that everyone deserves to be happy at any and every moment. Society says we should not permit others to interfere with achieving true happiness, especially those who seek to make us feel guilt and shame, or those who seemingly pass judgement upon our behavior. Society seems to believe that if everyone will just “do whatever makes him feel good,” without guilt or judgement by others, then everyone will be truly happy. On January 7, 2016, our oldest daughter moved out of our home and went to live with a boy she met on Instagram a few weeks prior. Now, to be fair, she is 18 years old and free to do so. And for my husband and myself, we are not angry at her decision to leave, but what I must take issue with is the way she went about it. Our Unique Family

You would think that one would have to be both confident and experienced to take on the challenge of writing about family functionality, yet I’ve always been very honest about how much dysfunction there is in our day to day lives over at our house. To read the rest of the article, click here!

Welcome!

Welcome!

The idea for this blog first hit me some three and a half years ago, when I used the term “family functionality” in a social media comment. As soon as I typed it, I had a vision that I have longed to fulfill. I registered my domain that very day, but it took about three and a half years before I finally got the site up and running. I have no prior experience in creating a website. I tried blogging a few times, but didn’t stick with it. Hopefully, that won’t be the case this time.

My family is unique – every family is unique! But sometimes, it feels like we can be so dysfunctional, and I think lots of families feel that way from time to time. That is the reason I wanted to make a website dedicated to improving the way families function. It’s something we pray about and work on constantly in my home, and hopefully our experiences will be of benefit to others. I truly hope you enjoy reading from at least one of the several categorized articles posted on my main website.
